str-office.trid.xml for LibreOffice Gallery (*.str)
« on: October 31, 2019, 04:29:57 PM »
Hello trid users,
some days ago i run TrID inside LibreOffice directories. In sub directory
gallery there files of Office Galleries are stored. The samples with file
str name extension are described as "Unknown!"  ( see appended
output/trid-old.txt).

The file command {en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_(command)} describes the
str-files as "UTF-8 Unicode text". See appended output/file.txt.

The str format is not used in old StarOffice 5.2 dated about May 2000
and OpenOffice 4.1.6. I found such str samples in LibreOffice with version
6.3.2.2. Unfortunately i found no documentation about such gallery file
format. So i use LibreOffice page on Wikipedia as reference URL by line:
   <RefURL>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LibreOffice</RefURL>

So i run tridscan to generate a definition file str-office.trid.xml.
Most samples start with a comment line like:
# Translated by desktop-translate and ulfex
This is expressed by corresponding XML construct. Because of missing exact
file specification i find on the net the example puzzle.str without such
comment line. So this example is not recognized.

A translation line starts with the phrase name followed by a language
abbreviation in brackets. Afterward comes a equal sign followed by gallery
theme name in corresponding language.
So in most cases the main file name like in sample like sounds.str is also
the English gallery name triggered by line like:
name[en]=Sounds

But this not always. For sample education.str the English text is triggered
by like
name[en]=School & University
In German LibreOffice for first example shown theme name is triggered by
line like:
name[de]=Klänge
In Italian LibreOffice for first example shown theme name is triggered by
line like:
name[it]=Suoni

The theme name is also stored in corresponding thm file. But only one string
for theme name is stored and without coding information. So in German
OpenOffice 4.1.6 for example sg9.thm with object /sounds/apert.wav string
"Kl\303\244nge" is stored. In German LibreOffice 6.3.2.2 then file now
becomes sounds.thm with stored English name "sounds". By additional str the
gallery name is shown translated in user language.

With the new trid definition most STR examples are now described ( see
appended output/trid-new-v.txt).
TrID definition, some examples and output are stored in archive str.zip.
I hope that my XML file can be used in future version of triddefs.

With best wishes
Jörg Jenderek
