packaged versions (installer) of TrID tools like MSI or RPM
« on: October 27, 2015, 12:25:35 PM »
Hello,
i find the TrID program very useful and recommends it to my friends.
But some of them are just a types of "Winword" writers and
not computer nerds. They are not used to command line tools
and are used to install software by clicking on something like "setup.exe"
and they do not know how to extract rar or zip archives.
So it would be nice, if there exist installer packages
of TrID tools like MSI format on windows or
RPM-format on Linux systems.
Does such type of packages exist or will be done in near future?

With best regard

There's no install package, at the moment.
Mostly because I thought that, for an inexperienced user, the most difficult thing would be actually using TrID anyway (being a command line tool), and so an easy to install package wouldn't have helped much.
But it still something I may consider.
Mostly, I would like to publish some kind of super easy to use complete package, with an easy to use GUI, ability to search, filter by file types, rename, etc. Will see.
