TriDup - A Graphical User Interface for TrID
« on: January 28, 2010, 05:08:46 PM »
! No longer maintained !

Final update August 29, 2010

Main features are:
  • Batch processing
  • Enhanced identification of HTML and XML files
  • File version information (if available)
  • CRC32 calculation
  • Duplicate Finder
  • Deletion of files
  • Integrable into context menu

File Detail View

Requirements:
  • Windows XP or later
  • The TrID library TrIDLib.dll
  • TrID's file type reference TrIDDefs.TRD
  • A customizable context menu handler that can pass a selection of files through a text file
(such as the highly recommended freeware FileMenu Tools)

Download TriDup v1.10

Note that since v1.00 (due to a buffer limit of FileMenu Tools) TriDup no longer receives the files directly, but by a text file. This requires a different kind of integration of TriDup into FileMenu Tools. Please refer to the installation chapter of TriDups help file and its updated screenshot of the Properties table.

Updated to v0.91

Changes:

  • Fixed bug that prevented a pick from the results of TrID's analysis if the entry contained characters which are not valid in filenames
  • Because TrID too often mistakes HTML for SVG files, the additional HTML/XML recognition methods (if enabled) will now overrule an existing TrID analysis result
  • Redefined the last possible file group which is now simply called "Verified extensions"

Updated to v1.00  :)

Changes:

  • Worked around the 2 kB input buffer of FileMenu Tools which limited the number of files passed to TriDup
Files are now passed by a text file which requires a different kind of integration of TriDup into FileMenu Tools -
please refer to the installation chapter of TriDups help file and its updated screenshot of the Properties table
  • New option:"Auto-tick checkboxes at start" lets you control which extension changes will be scheduled automatically
  • Added context menu option that (un)ticks multiple files
  • Added proper status bar info before subsequently calculating CRC32 checksums, and an automatic scan for duplicates afterwards
  • Progress bar should now update correctly when subsequently calculating CRC32 checksums
  • Fixed sorting bug that occured if [SmartSort] was clicked again in order to update multiple groups

JFYI: TriDup has now it's own support forum. Not sure if I'm allowed to post the link here, which is why I refer you to the tools help file. However, in order to spare you another registration I will respond to questions here inside this thread as well.

thx MarkO !  :)

EDIT OCT 2011: Well, being overrun by spam bots, I had to close my support forum shield.silverforum.net in October 2011.

I am really angry and sad about this.  >:(

Unfortunately, the Arcor user-account hosting the linked copy of TriDup has gone away, and it was not backed up by the Internet Archive; can anybody re-upload version 1.10 of TriDup?

Hello!

I'm really sorry for the late reply, but there was a problem with the forwarding of the notification-mail on my side.

TriDup is no longer developed or maintained anymore. That said, you are welcome to download the final version from here:

Get TriDub v1.10

Thank you for your interest!  :)
