TrID points calculation?
« on: August 20, 2008, 02:10:53 PM »
Hi

I am an IT developer at the State and University Library of Denmark. We are involved in the PLANETS EU project. One of our tasks in that project is to build a webservice to characterize files. In that work, TrID came up as a realistic tool to base this webservice on. We are impressed with the size of the database, the quality of the identification, and the extensibility of the definitions.

TrID does not need to be opensource for this, but I would be grateful to know the algorithm by which TrID assigns points in an identification. Also, we would like to know if this algorithm is patented, or in other ways non-publishable or reusable. TrID is currently only free for non-commercial use, so would you be ok with us using it or reimplementing it in java?

I am looking forward to hear from you. Mailing me, rather than posting your reply is perfectly alright.

Regards
Asger Blekinge-Rasmussen
