Hello trid users,
some days ago my system with Windows 10 updates itself. When checking the
system with ccleaner many file name associations are now broken. So i look
for the reported filename extension. One file name extension is DCX.
ALL my DCX examples like abydos.dcx are described correctly by
bitmap-dcx.trid.xml as "Graphics Multipage PCX bitmap". (See appended
output/trid-v-old.txt). But no mime type is mentioned and no reference URL
is displayed.
For comparison reason i also run the file format identification utility
DROID ( See
http://sourceforge.net/projects/droid/ ). This describes the DCX
examples as "Multipage Zsoft Paintbrush Bitmap" by definition x-fmt/348. It
also displays used mime type "image/x-dcx". This information is now
expressed by additional line like:
<Mime>image/x-dcx</Mime>
Some information about the DCX image file format can be found on file
formats archive team web site. This is now expressed by additional reference
URL line like:
<RefURL>
http://fileformats.archiveteam.org/wiki/DCX</RefURL>
With the updated definition for Graphics Multipage PCX bitmap such examples
are now described more precisely (see appended output/trid-v-new.txt ).
TrID definition and output are stored in archive dcx.zip. I hope that my XML
file can be used in future version of triddefs.
With best wishes
