Warning: file seems to be plain text/ASCII
« on: May 12, 2007, 12:18:08 AM »
Hi Guys!
It's a lovely programm, realy..it's cool.
But now if've got some problems, which I can't solve by my own:
My input was like that:
C:\TrID_command\trid.exe G:\AB\AB,C\AB\AB\* -ae
The result was:
"Collecting data from file: G:\AB

Warning: file seems to be plain text/ASCII
TrID is best suited to analyze binary files!

Unknown!

Whats the problem? Why is TrID not able to rename my files?
I wounder about this fact, cause the folder doesn't consist of exotic files, only of quite casual ones.

I hope you are able to help me!
Thank you very much!
Greetings! :)))

Hi! Sorry for the late reply.

That seems very strange. But, also your command line sound strange enough, I'm not sure it that was just a sample or the exact string you typed... ?

Be!

Sorry for the late reply.

I have to admit that I'm a bit confused about the issues you are having.
After seen the screen shots, I think that probably you aren't passing the path & parameters correctly to TrID.

Let's recap a bit (and my apologies if I start "from far away" in a pedantic way, but it's just to have some references).

  • Make a "TrID" folder on the root of the C: drive
  • In that dir, copy the trid.exe & triddefspack.trd files.
  • Open a Command Prompt (Start - Run..., type cmd & hit [ENTER])
  • Change the current path to the TrID folder, with: cd \trid
  • Now, suppose that the files you want to identify / rename are in a "\my strange files" folder
  • To let TrID operate on them, simply type (including quotes!): trid "\my strange files\*.*" -ae
That way, it should works.

Let me know,
Bye!

hi Marc!
Thank you very much!
It's now obsolet to answer my e-mail, wich I wrote you, beause it consits of quite the same issues like this thread.
My fault was a very very simple one, but I wasn't able to recognize it. Perhaps because my lack of DOS-Knowledge: I forgot the quotes (").

Know TrID is running and does a succesfull job!!!

Greetingz and big thanks
(: Ma
