.kw_ Extension: Generic OLE2 / Multistream Compound File
« on: November 21, 2007, 04:51:40 PM »
Hi to all,

I am pretty new to this forum and first of all I want to thank Mark0 for the TriD file Identifier tool.  It's really great!

That said, I am trying to understand what kind of extension is the .kw_ used as a DB for a program running on my computer.

I used both TriD and forensic toolkit.

Trid says: Generic OLE2 / Multistream Compound File
Forensic Toolkit: OLE Archive

This is pretty generic though.  It helps because it tells me it's an archive, but I still don't know how to open it...

Can any of you help me out with this?

Thanks!

-Davide

A program that use a file with the extension .KW_ that come to my mind is KidsWatch.
But, aside from the fact that it use a standard OLE container, I don't have any additional / useful info about the file format / structure.

Bye!
