Update EML definition To Include MHT
« on: June 27, 2008, 07:23:45 PM »
.EML files are message/rfc822 standard files.  So are .MHT files.  I would like to see Trid return both extensions.  Why?  Because I use trid to verify extensions to file types.  If the extension I am verifying matches ANY of the extensions returned by Trid, I use the extension.  If the current extension doesn't match, then I use the returned extension.

OK, this is all well and good, but who cares?  Well, EML files are dealt with by either Outlook Express or even Outlook.  MHT files can be dealt with by Internet Explorer and that is actually easier, faster and more easily programmable.

I will be glad to run a bunch of MHT files through and send in the scan if desired.

Thanks

Hi!

I will be glad to run a bunch of MHT files through and send in the scan if desired.

You are welcome! If you can analyze them with TrIDScan and then send me the resulting definition, I will surely check it out!

Thanks,
Bye!
