TrID has identified a series of files as MPEG, in its run. But it has named these as .dat files. I just caught this because a very large video, which I could not save, was found in the browser cache and I guessed it was the video I wanted by its size. But when I ran TrID, it added the .dat extension. Looking at the run window, I see that the program identified the file as a MPEG video file.
Why did it add the .dat extension then?
