oth.trid.xml for OpenDocument HTML template
« on: February 25, 2020, 01:48:26 PM »
Hello trid users,

some days ago i handled some non Microsoft Office documents. When running
TrID on samples with file name extension oth, these are only described as
"Zip document container (generic)" by xzip-doc-cont.trid.xml or are
misidentified as "XMind Workbook" by xmind.trid.xml ( See appended
output/trid-old.txt).

So i run tridscan to generate new trid definition oth.trid.xml. When
comparing this with similar definition like ott.trid.xml and looking at
output of file(1) command ( See appended output/file-5.38.txt)
it is clear that this describes the OpenDocument HTML template.

Instead OpenDocument page on Wikipedia i use the page on file formats
archive team site. That is expressed by reference URL line:
   <RefURL>
   http://fileformats.archiveteam.org/wiki/OpenDocument
   </RefURL>

According to that web site gets it's own mime type. That is expressed by
line:
   <Mime>application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text-web</Mime>

With the new trid definitions all my inspected OTH samples are
now described ( see appended output/trid-new.txt).
TrID definition, output and some examples stored in archive oth.zip. I hope
that my new XML file can be used in future version of triddefs.

With best wishes
Jörg Jenderek
